Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
His blood was put upon the altar to pay atone for our sins. How often was the symbol of mosaic sacrifices forgotten when they should have pointed their souls to Christ?
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
This was part of my Book of Mormon reading. I know much of Isaiah's writings are messianic, but I forget how eloquent he is. In the metaphor of us all being sheep we have all sinned and all need the atonement to return to the fold.
Mosiah 14:6 All we, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the lord hath laid on him the iniquities of us all.
Some punctuation changes, but really the same verse as above. I have marked this set of verses in the Book of Mormon for memorization.
