Jesus Christ --> Atonement Through - Day 4

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

I believe this is a reference to Moses and the children of Israel receiving mana from heaven while in the wilderness. Life does feel like the wilderness sometimes and we need the Savior to help bring us home.

John 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

How does He know the Father so well? How do we come to know Him and His Father to that depth?

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

Here we are asked to believe in Him, not even to know Him as well as He knows the Father. How do we strengthen faith and belief?

Jesus Christ --> Bread of Life - Day 2

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which though knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

Again here is a reference to manna, the bread of life given to the people of Moses as they wandered in the wilderness. Also, in this case we are taught to live by the word that comes from the Lord and not on bread alone. In the temple we are taught that both body and spirit must be constantly nourished.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heave: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Jesus gave his body to be tortured after having his soul crushed all of the sins of the world. Our sins would otherwise be the death of our spirits, but He gives us life through His suffering, death, and resurrection.

1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.

I suppose this means that they would not have forgiveness of their sins and that they would be responsible to suffer as Jesus suffered to pay the price for those sins. Yet, the Lord already suffered for those sins so the sin is double, we commit it and are responsible to pay the price of justice for it, but we sin in allowing Jesus to suffer for it needlessly without receiving of His forgiveness and His paying the price already for that sin.

Jesus Christ --> Bread of Life - Day 1

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

We represent the flesh of Jesus Christ, as sacrificed, with bread. My joy was so full partaking of the sacrament on Sunday, that "Jesus Once of Humble Birth" offered His Atonement that I could be healed from sin and physical ailment.

I've read this verse many times and even in past readings have seen the correlating stories and teachings in the chapter. This verse is shared at the time that he fed the 5000 with a few loaves of bread and a few fishes. This is one of the great lessons of life that it is in being humble and meek that faith and hope grow. Through these attributes one find gratitude and awareness of the miracles of life that surround you. There were some that probably missed the miracle of the 5000 too worried about a dole, and blind to the miracle that occurred. They missed the greater meaning that they had before them the bread of life. As one who believes in Jesus Christ I hope I can always improve in my ability to see the miracles around me as offered by Jesus, and never hunger or thirst...

Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

The hidden manna is a reference to the bread of life that was given to the people of Moses. The people of Moses took for granted the value of the manna. Do we do the same with the sacrament? We must have our hearts pointed towards the Son of God.

Alma 5:34 (Deut. 8:3; John 6:51; 1 Cor. 11:27; 2 Nephi 23:3; Jacob 3:2) Yea, he saith: Come unto me and ye shall partake of the fruit of the tree of life: yea, ye shall eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely.

In the vision of the tree of life the tree of life is also likened to a fountain of water. The fruit of the tree, the fountain of water, and bread are all used to point our hearts and minds to the Savior Jesus Christ, or the love of God which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men.
