Jeremiah 31:9 They shall come with weeping and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
The Lord Jesus Christ was the great Jehovah of the Old Testament. He was a father to Israel; He cared for and loved Israel and covenanted with them.
1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
By being baptized into the church and making covenants with God we receive Jesus Christ as the father of our souls.
2 Corinthians 6:18 And I will be a Father unto you and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
He is a Father to us, yet we don't always turn to Him as a Father. Or is it that in turning to God our Heavenly Father we are also turning unto Christ our Father?
