Day 292 Today's reading: 3 Nephi 8:5-25

Question of the day: How can we prepare today for the Savior’s Second Coming?

The preparation is every day, isn't it? We are always having to correct our trajectory to stay on course. A little repentance everyday, probably a little in the morning and a little in the evening. The Nephites and Lamanites showed us that they frequently were cycling in and out of righteousness. We do too, so the effort must be consistently frequent.

The people in the Americas here are suffering from mass destruction, complete destruction everywhere. My mind wonders through the lists of natural disasters that are common to Earth. The crazy thing is that they experienced them all, there are elements discussed of earthquakes and tornados, and volcanos erupting and tsunamis. So if the Lord uses natural laws, how did he cause such mass turmoil through the whole Earth?

Regardless of that I can't help but think that the Earth responded to His death. The elements love and obey God. At His death on the cross the Earth expressed her feelings.

The people were brought low by such great destruction and such darkness that remained. How terrifying! I sensed that Nephi was still aware of what was happening and I believe that despite the destruction he still had peace in his soul. When we are right with God and doing our best to align our wills with His, will we not have peace during our trials, no matter how great they are?
