Question of the day: What do you think it means to offer a sacrifice of “a broken heart and a contrite spirit”? What blessings does the Savior promise to those who come unto Him with a broken heart and contrite spirit?
As I've said before sometimes I answer the questions provided and sometimes I just add my own thoughts. Feel free to comment on either.
The Nephites hear a voice from heaven (Jesus Christ) providing an explanation of what He, the Lord, has done. What caught my attention most was the comment about His displeasure towards the people of Jacob and their destruction of the government. The Savior cares about our governments and how well they work or don't work.
3 Nephi 9:20 is the official change made by the Lord for the people to no longer offer burnt offerings but to now offer a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And within a short period of time he will provide them with the actual sacrament, the perfect reminder of this new type of sacrifice.
