Day 290 Today's reading: 3 Nephi 7:1-14

Question of the day: How and why is Satan trying to divide people today?

(Side note: the "Question of the day" is always provided by the BofM365 Instagram account. I sometimes try and answer the question and sometimes just have my own thoughts about the passage. Feel free to answer the question, comment on others comments, or just add your own thoughts or questions.)

This whole passage seems to face the questions of division versus unity. The Savior taught, if ye are not one ye are not mine (D&C 38:27). The people divided themselves into tribes, but then Jacob had his band (organized by a secret combination). The tribes all had different laws but were unified in that they were against Jacob and his band. This, now fragmented nation, could not protect nor promote the work of the prophets. They had divided themselves from the church. In comparison, not many years previous, the people had united themselves into one land where they could support one another in the gospel, and with provisions, and protect themselves from the Gadianton Robbers. It is difficult to maintain our testimony and our faith if we separate ourselves from the strength of the church.
