Question of the day: How do these verses exemplify the pride cycle? How can we avoid falling into the pride cycle?
There are so many ways to answer this question, but the subtle thought that occurred to me was that this people went from being gathered into one place to spreading out geographically across the land. There is something about spreading out and losing that unity that causes us to be vulnerable to satan's temptations. The Nephites that had been so unified against the Gadianton robbers were now fragmented across a class system and losing the humility and faith they gained by being gathered to one great city.
