What do we care most about? Clothes, well decorated house, newer cars? How many people in spiritual, emotional and financial need go unnoticed because our focus is elsewhere. The whole purpose of the church of the devil is to use gold and silver to buy up armies and navies, false priests who oppress and tyrants who destroy and reign with blood and horror. Nephi is telling us about the church of the devil and shows that their desires are focused on the fine crafts of the world it is a symptom of their pride and it fuels their pride. This causes them to lose sight of the gospel, the doctrines and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ -- which is the way of happiness.
