1 Nephi 11:21-22 "Joyous"

"Redeemer of Israel our only delight"  I've been thinking about those opening words to the Hymn Redeemer of Israel.  Especially since I have sung them so many times without thinking about them. It seemed relevant to pay attention and realize the joy and peace that our Savior and Redeemer provides through His miraculous healing.  A remission of sins brings meekness and a contrite heart Moro. 8:26 which then allows the companionship of the Holy Ghost.  Through his companionship we feel the love of God.  The Love of God is the greatest feeling of Joy and happiness we can experience.

I've mentioned it before but I think it is worth commenting on again that I feel as though the statement "the Love of God, which sheadeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men" (like other similar statements) should be read in two ways.  The Love of God as His feeling directed towards us.  And the Love of God as a feeling we feel towards him and towards others.  Whether we can generate that feeling ourselves or it comes solely from God himself is unclear to me.  It seems possible that all love could start as a blessing from God and then be granted in portions and forms as we choose to receive it to then be directed out.  The more we seek it, the more we receive of it fully and the more we try to see others for the value they hold before God, the more completely we can receive of the full gift of Love from God.  It can be Charity that we receive from God, our English word for the most comprehensive form of Love.

On the other hand I suppose somehow we have it already within us to choose to feel love towards others.  But the more I think about it this is a gift given from God, and a talent to be developed and not something we can find and/or generate love from within us.
