1 Nephi 5:14 "Jacob"

Nephi had the same respect for Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that we do in our day.  He knew and recognized those covenants.  The cross-reference for Jacob includes the story of his birth how he is a twin with Esau and that he had a hand on his brother's heel when he was born.

Keeping the covenants made and the stories of their lives fresh in mind will help give greater meaning to other aspects of our study of the scriptures and in particular to Nephi and his experience.
