Nephi and the team return to the tent of their father. This is a sign to Sariah that Lehi is a true prophet and faithfully following God's counsel. I wonder if she didn't make some kind of promise with the Lord that if her sons returned she would more faithfully trust her husband; or believe that the words he spoke were true.
They expressed their thanks by offering sacrifice -- this was part of the Law of Moses. I think they also prayed and gave thanks in prayer to God.
Certainly the message here is clear that we should be more careful in giving thanks unto God. Especially as we see more clearly how He delivers us from temptation, challenge, trial, etc. We should continue to be full of gratitude for all the good blessings He pours out upon us. How important it is to count our blessings and become more proficient at recognizing those blessings.
