I am so blessed to be able to read the words of Isaiah in the Book of Mormon. I do seek to understand them better and I know I have so much to learn. I hope to always find myself becoming more and more comfortable with the words of Isaiah, to gather and glean meanings as I go along. I hope that over the years it becomes one of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon.
In this chapter we read of the destruction of Assyria and we understand that to represent the destruction of the wicked at the last day. We also learn that very few will be left after that destruction. It will happen in a day, and the numbers that are left will be so few that a child could count them. At that time the remnants of the house of Jacob will come and gather back.
I can't help but wonder if the unrest occurring in so many countries right now is not a significant part of the preparation for the Lord to come. As these kingdoms fall and democracy replaces, will we find that our missionaries are then able to go in and preach in these places, where maybe they were not before?
