1. This question was asked of us in Sunday School and no one really answered it. I had probably already commented 3 times and was brooding over my next comment and didn't feel at liberty to waste another comment on this question. Giving place to the seed, to me, means that we seek truth, we learned about it, we let the Holy Ghost confirm it's truth and teach us whatever he will. We must act on it. That is the growth, the action. Even when and especially when we don't know what the results are going to be. I have always been blessed when I have acted on the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
2. The Word is any truth that draws us closer to Jesus Christ. Learning from the promptings of the Holy Ghost, or in the Temple, or in scripture study -- all of these things cause joy because the are the result of or result in or accompanied by the Holy Ghost. It's the Spirit that counts, it's the Spirit that matters... (pres. Benson) That Joy is "delicious" and hopefully we can all crave it and work for it.
3. How should the people of Zoram exercise their faith? It should always begin and end in Christ Jesus. That is exactly what Zenos, Zenock, and Moses intended by their lives and writings. It is what Alma wanted from these humbled people.
In class today Sis. Neal pointed out that the people would go up to the Rameumptom and pray to a god that was a spirit, is a spirt, and would always be a spirit forever. "That sounds like Satan" she reminded us. It makes sense then that if Alma and his good brethren were to find anyone that would listen to them. The first thing they would want to have happen would be for them to realize that Jesus would come and atone for their sins. Faith should be rooted in this!
I commented in the end that Alma and his brethren were thrilled in a way I still can't fathom, that they found anyone among this wicked people to listen to them. Alma KNEW what would happen if this people apostatized. He'd seen it before with the Amulonites, and the Amalecites. What joy he must have felt in that moment when the poor of that city came to ask him what they should do, and how they should worship.
