Mark 14:55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
He was innocent. Satan stirred up their hearts to anger against our Lord, our God. I don't know if satan really thought he could somehow thwart the plans of God. But maybe his efforts were more to lead the souls of men astray. The more of those he already had influence over he could get to be involved in condemning Jesus the more he may have thought he could permanently damn. Then I think of Jesus prayer on the cross, forgive them for they know not what they do. I pray for mercy on those who truly did not know what they were doing. I do feel sorry for them.
