Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
I used to imagine that this meant that we thought he would be ugly, but in the context of "condescending", the thought occurs to me that if we were to see God in the flesh would we not still expect to see, "His eyes were as a flame of fire, his hair was white like the pure snow, His countenance shown above the brightness of the sun, and His voice was as the sound of Jehovah (God of the old testament)... If you were expecting to see Jehovah and instead saw a man like any other would you not also say He was devoid of the beauty you were expecting!
