Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Why did Jesus have to be baptized of John?
Mark 1:9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
Was Luke the only one baptizing? Did his authority come from the same place as other Jews? Why did John preach and baptize in the wilderness?
1 Nephi 11:27 And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him. And the Lam of God went forth and was baptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove.
The Lamb of God went forth and was baptized. I like this title of the Lord, and as I think about it I think it beautifully represents the idea that each task where this title is used may represent the humble willingness with which Jesus performed this commandment of the Lord.
