John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
The Father was always with the Son to teach and direct Him. That is authority indeed.
John 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
A prayer between Father and Son? Another evidence of authority
John 20:21 The said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Maintaining the pattern of sending representatives who have authority sustains the fact that Jesus has authority from His Father.
3 Nephi 27:13 Behold I have given unto you my gospel, and this is the gospel which I have given unto you-that I came into the world to do the will of my Father, because my Father sent me.
