Matthew 7:29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes
His authority came from God His Father, but also through a complete understanding.
Mark 1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
Literally it is His doctrine. The scribes knew it only as they studied it, and thus imperfectly.
Matthew 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
This story has always fascinated me because Jesus truly has power to forgive sin and heal the body. The power to forgive sin could always be refuted because it wasn't something external that could be witnessed. It is purely something that exists between an individual and Jesus Christ, and God the Father. But to be raised from an illness such as this palsy, that cannot be refuted. That was witnessed. How could you then doubt that Jesus truly did have power as the Great High Priest to forgive sin?
