Ether 3:20 Wherefore, having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be kept from within the veil; therefore he saw Jesus; and he did minister unto him.
Knowledge and righteousness are precursors to seeing Jesus Christ the Son of God. It may also be that it is also a pre-requisite that they are going to lead and need to have that witness to share with others.
Ether 9:22 And after he had anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead he lived four years, and he saw peace in the land; yea, and he even saw the Son of Righteousness, and did rejoice and glory in his day; and he died in peace.
What if you saw Jesus at the end of your service? I've wondered that about my own grandparents.
D&C 107:49 And he saw the Lord, and he walked with him, and was before his face continually; and he walked with God three hundred and sixty five years, making him four hundred and thirty years old when he was translated.
Why is it so different now? Why did they live so long? What does it mean that he was continually before him? Because they don't capitalize to show the honorific, we don't know if Enoch placed himself before the Lord, or the Lord allowed Himself to be in front of Enoch. The latter is how I understood it at first, but I think the former makes more sense, because it was a choice Enoch made to put himself continually before the Lord.
