John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
This verse has always been meaningful to me, showing me the perfect connection between Father and Son.
John 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
Jesus knew who He was, and He also knew perfectly that the Father would witness of Him. Which we have record of. What impresses me is that Jesus knew Himself, His Father, the plan of salvation, and His own role in it well enough to witness perfectly of who He truly was.
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
He always did the will of the Father. He could only do what He had seen the Father do. He understood the will of the Father perfectly. Was He truly omniscient while He was on earth?
What deeper understanding did John have as he wrote these verses? And what would pondering them deeply reveal to me?
