In our study of The Book of Mormon this year I have noticed frequently the references, especially in the Book of Alma, to the Spirit of Prophecy and the Spirit of Revelation. I have begun to consistently pray for this gift especially around studying The Book of Mormon. As I have done this I believe I get more promptings in my studies, and also in my prayers.
I find that frequently in the mornings before I'm even fully awake I receive thoughts and impressions that are not my own. I recognize that it is then my opportunity to pray about these ideas in my morning prayers and to take note of them. I hope that in so doing I also have a better chance of not only receiving more and other ideas but also to act on the ideas.
