Question of the day: How does learning of Christ's Second Coming affect how you live your life?
I don't really think I make my choices according to my believe in Christ's Second Coming. I hope it comes soon and I hope it doesn't come for a long time. We all need time to prepare and yet the world is already so wicked it would sure be nice if it happened sooner than later. But all of that doesn't seem to factor in to how I live; it probably should.
My thoughts from this passage circle around something else. I have been highlighting any references to Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ as I read through. The references are all marked in yellow. This has allowed me to take note of the different ways deity is spoken of. Two common phrases used to identify the God they worshipped in Old Testament times are: The Lord of Hosts and The Holy One of Israel. Both of these titles I believe refer to Jesus Christ as he is the God of the Old Testament. Today's passage includes both of these. My understanding is that The Lord of Hosts references a God of Power who leads an army of angels that will avenge wrongs -- a just God. The other title, The Holy One of Israel seems to reference a God focused on answering covenants made with the fathers of this people, and so for that is a merciful God.
