Question of the day: How do you combat the four evils Isaiah denounces--pride, errant leaders, wickedness, and neglecting the poor and needy?
I don't think I combat them very directly. I focus on doing what I know I should as proscribed by the gospel of Jesus Christ and hope that it somehow protects me from the evils and temptations that are naturally all around us. But maybe we must have a more direct approach. Pride seems to be undone by gratitude. Errant leaders is difficult because we have to know how and when to stand up to them. Wickedness is fought by keeping the commandments. The poor and the needy are around us but we have to know how best to recognize them and bless them. Some of those we are most needing to help may not appear to be asking for help.
