Reading the cross-references gives me a feel for what words were used at different times. The word "covenant" was used a lot in the Old Testament, Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon. I saw the heaviest use, in the OT and the D&C. I can't help but think that this relates to the fact that we received the Abrahamic Covenant at the beginning of the Old Testament and it would remain relevant through until the Second coming of the Savior. The D&C should have many references as more covenants were revealed and made available to all the Earth. How grateful I am for covenants.
I noticed also with interest the use of the term 'new' covenants. I suppose this is related to the previous paragraph, but it was used in reference to the Book of Mormon as well as the sealing ordinance, which I believe is called the 'new and everlasting covenant'.
