Lehi relates Jacob's seeing the Lord to one of the Lord's mortal ministerings. As just a reader of the word I never would have aligned those ideas. To me seeing the son of God, or having him minister to you would have been mostly a question of being in the right place at the right time. And at any other time in history a visit from the Lord is based purely on worthiness and need --such as being a prophet and leading a people
