This word denotes to me a scale or spectrum. In this case it is part of a promise and a curse from the Lord. On the one side of the scale is a promise of prosperity for righteousness on the other is a curse for unrighteousness and disobedience. It teaches us the there are degrees of blessings or curses. The greater our accuracy of keeping the commandments of God the greater our blessings and prosperity.if we altogether turn away from those commandments we are cutoff from the Lord.
Also it seems relevant to realize that this provides also for partial blessings.if we find ourselves in the middle of that scale keeping some of the commandments but not all we will receive a partial blessing -not the full endowment we could receive. And it follows that as someone is learning about the gospel and they begin to experiment upon the word partial blessings come, more than were experienced before, proving the need to continue to progress.
