The great and abominable church, or the great whore of all the earth, slayeth the prophets and the saints, she is drunk with their blood.
What a gruesome picture. It is so uncomfortable. But how important for us to recognize that we must choose a side in this battle that commenced before we came to earth. And we if we are not actively seeking to follow the son of God and be His disciple. We will inevitably choose to follow the great and abominable church and become followers of its founder, the evil one. The problem is that it is so subtle we don't even realize it. And there is a broad spectrum of people who choices put them somewhere in the spectrum between the poles of these two churches. So many are right in the middle living good and decent lives but either don't have the knowledge of the true and living gospel or need to renew or deepen their conversion of the truths they already know. We can always do a little more to follow Jesus.
