Lamoni's House is Converted - Alma 19

Lamoni has fallen in a holy trance.  This is troubling to his family as they have never experienced anything like this.  It is not a common thing, I don't think, I've never heard of it happening in our day. Why is that?  This holy trance seems to be a time when the person is permitted to repent and learn more of the gospel.  They could, like Lamoni, even see their Redeemer.

Other's are affected by Lamoni's trance so that they also sink down into a trance.  Then Abish goes and gathers the people to see the power of God.  They can't understand what has happened so they argue and it's not until Abish gets help from the Queen are they able to raise others and explain their conversion.

Do these trances teach us anything important?  Two thoughts, maybe in some way they represent mini "probationary periods" where a person is allowed to repent and be cleansed, not unlike our earth life.  I wonder if when they are brought out of their trances it doesn't remind us of what it might be like to be resurrected.  These are mere speculations on my part and not nearly as significant as the fact that these people heard the word of God and repented and no more desired to do evil.  I am grateful for this time on earth when I can repent of my sins and become more effective and resisting sin and serving God in righteousness.
