Lamoni Learns of God - Alma 18

What amazement Lamoni must have felt as he learned of Ammon's faithfulness.  From our perspective there is not a whole lot of interaction for a friendship or a relationship with any kind of trust to have been developed. So for Lamoni to see someone do a better job than his servants who is supposed to be his enemy, that certainly caught his attention.

I have to wonder if that doesn't make a difference in the mission field.  I wish I had done a better job of serving and looking for opportunities to serve among those that were not members of the church.

Lamoni is so astonished that he is willing to give up his kingdom and to protect Ammon.  All Ammon wants is for his conversion.  With that, he gains Lamoni's attention further to his conversion.

In the end the emotions of the conversion are so intense that he goes into a holy trance.

I do also want to go back and highlight how interesting it is that Ammon is given power to know the thoughts of Lamoni's heart.  God knows our thoughts and feelings, and he can convey those as needed to others through the Spirit.
