This is a special chapter, it is the chapter in which Isaiah receives his call, as I see it, to serve as a prophet before the people. He sees our Lord God sitting upon his throne with seraphim. It is my feeling that there are different ways of seeing the Lord and thus becoming a prophet. Seeing a vision such as this one must have come with such feeling and understanding, that you then knew and could witness that the Savior is real and our master.
These are words that Nephi chose to record. He also spoke of this back in chapter 11 when he said that Isaiah had seen the Lord just as he had seen the Lord and his brother Jacob. And of course early in the Book of Mormon in 1 Nephi we read that father Lehi had seen the Lord. We know that this is receiving the second comforter. That these people were willing to serve the Lord at all cost. They had become so familiar with the Holy Ghost and so good at following the Spirit to accomplish righteous things that they could be trusted to see the Savior and be taught by Him. And the things the Lord teaches when you are at that stage appear to be about people spanning the life of the earth.
