Nephi wrote on plates of ore. At the beginning of chapter 19 we realize that he has plates and he was commanded to make more. I tend to get confused when he only identifies plates as these plates and other plates, but regardless, we know he loved recording the important teachings of the gospel, and how grateful are we for his writings.
After explaining the difference between the plates he highlights that the covenants and how they affect the future of his people, bringing out the role of the Savior.
Nephi had to work hard to convince his brothers and he used the scriptures and prophets of old to do this.
And he love Isaiah and his words. My guess is he got excited every time he picked up Isaiah. Imagine reading a great poets perfect writing on a topic you absolutely love more than any other. and then he would apply what he learned.
