I struggle, I think, as most do with the words of Isaiah. But I know Nephi did not, he loved them and we know we will get more of Isaiah's words.
In this particular chapter Nephi quotes Isaiah rehearsing the covenant words of the Lord. We hear these words often, "why weren't you obedient so I could bless you?"
The Lord also explains that their trials or travel and travail in the wilderness was to refine them.
Certainly these words resonated with Nephi in a way quite unique from most others who would read the words of Isaiah because of their eight years in the wilderness. They had trials and tribulations and Nephi clearly recognized the grow that he and the people of Lehi had experienced. What's more he had L&L to represent the wicked and those with stiff necks.
I have been reviewing in my mind how Nephi must have felt about the words of Isaiah. And the thought that occurs to me is that it would be similar to how i have felt about the words of apostles like Elder Maxwell. The deep meaning of a well written talk, remaining in your mind to be reviewed and pondered.
