Nephi repeats his process, he desires, is diligent, and ponders. While he is doing this he gets taken to a high mountain and is interviewed and shown the things that he desires to see. He sees the tree of life but he gets more definition around it. Or the definition is provided directly to him in vision. The definition seems as though it also comes in something of a future looking history.
1. sees the mother of God. Understands the nature of her conception.
2. Sees His baptism.
3. Sees His ministry.
4. Sees His Crucifixion.
5. Sees the world fighting against the church.
He comes to understand that the tree represents the love of God which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men. Charity? That thing which I know I lack and for which I need to plead.
