Mysteries - 1 Nephi 10

At the end of chapter 10 Nephi explains how he has come to know the mysteries of God.  And I know that he shares them with us so that we can follow the same path and gain the same understanding.  The most important thing he shares with us from that knowledge is his understanding around the coming and role of the Messiah.  For his people it was a prophecy of things to come, for us it is a reminder that he has come and that they knew of His coming.

Nephi teaches us that we must have desire to know of the mysteries of God. v. 17
We must diligently seek Him v.17
We should understand that it is by the power of the Holy Ghost that we learn the mysteries v. 17
We must repent v. 18
We should understand that God doesn't change.  He is the same in Nephi's day as He is today.  v. 18 and 19

These are not hard things to do, I believe the key is consistency.  The consistency is the practice which allows us to get better at sensing the promptings and influence of the Holy Ghost.  Taking note or action on what we learn I think is also key so that we preserve what we have gained and prepare ourselves for more.

I have learned one other truth this morning (I already knew this but am reminded again), it is very difficult to study when you're children want to be with you.  Addi is very distracting.
