This blog has tracked my studies of The Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. I would like to use it now to study more directly the Savior Jesus Christ.

Lehi - 1 Nephi 5
I just read 1 Nephi 5 and am impressed with a few things that Lehi did at this time in their journey. 1. He didn't lose hope or faith when he sent his sons to retrieve the plates. He knew just like Nephi did that what the Lord commands them to do will be done. Sariah wasn't quite as confident, but if she had prayed and pondered over it like Nephi she could have had that same confidence. 2. Lehi was grateful and knew when to express gratitude for his blessings. His sons returned and he thanked God. We can all do better at that. 3. He went right to studying and pondering the word of God. He mentions the fact that the creation was included. I am grateful for my understanding of the creation, but why is my understanding of it important. I know it must be as it is in the scriptures as well as the temple ceremony. but why? 4. Lehi was grateful for the knowledge of his posterity. Genealogy was important to him and them. My guess is that he understood that Gods love for all people would one day mean vicarious work for all of God's children and as such we would need to know who was father to who. I'm grateful for such advances in technology today that allow us to index and do family history work with such ease. I am impressed with the man that Lehi was and that Nephi was like him, maybe even better. I hope as I study about them some of that will rub off on me.
