1 Nephi 4

Nephi goes to get the plates from Laban and brings back the plates and Zoram.

vs. 1)  I am particularly interested in how Nephi influences others for good.  It is one thing to be good at studying, praying and pondering on your own.  It is quite another to be good at leading others to do what its right.  This is relevant to me in that I have a family and I want to lead them to righteousness.  My approach with my children is different than with my wife or my friends.  In this verse, Nephi does not command but invites, "let us go up again to Jerusalem, and let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord".  2 Nephi 25:26 "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies that our children may know to what source the may look for a remission of their sins."  1 Nephi 8:37 "And he did exhort them with all the feeling of a tender parent, that they would  hearken to his words, that perhaps  the Lord would be merciful  to them, not cast them off; yea my father did preach unto them."  Lehi and Nephi spent a lot of time sharing the gospel with Laman and Lemuel, the murmurers.  If I look at what this looks like in my day to day I take opportunities to share the gospel, even preach, during family scripture study, family home evening, and at the dinner table.  We often have conversations about what is write and wrong at prayer time.  I think adding in study time with Amanda will help.  Start small and consistent.
vs. 2) Nephi uses scripture stories that he knew would make sense to L&L.
vs. 3) Nephi reminds L&L of their personal experiences that should be enough to convince them to do any commandment of the Lord.
