President Eyring's talks were particularly poignant to me. Amanda and I studied these talks and made Sacrament talks of them.
In Priesthood he gave a talk called, "God Helps the Faithful Priesthood Holder". I've read this talk 3 or 4 times and I'm still not sure I know how to summarize it. There are a couple of points that standout that I will mention first before I take a second and review the talk for other favorite points.
1. He opens with a scene of himself when he is 13 or 14 when he was called to act in the priesthood that seemed above his ability. He prayed for help. He continues to explain that in these times the Lord will give us reassurance and and guidance in three ways:
a. we will remember times past when we were helped.
b. We will feel concern for others
c. we will feel the need to get to work
That is really a summary of the talk. I love it; it is so real. I feel like he has described how I have felt when in these kinds of situations.
2. There is a phrase about keeping ourselves clean that I want to add here, "No priesthood holder who wants to succeed will be careless about where his eyes may go. Choosing to look at images which incite lust will cause the Spirit to withdraw. You have been warned by Elder Clayton as well as you may ever be warned about the dangers of the Internet and the media in putting pornographic images before us. But immodesty is now so common that everyday life requires discipline--a conscious choice not to linger watching whatever might create in us feelings which would repel the Spirit."
Great talk, I feel like I need to read it again.
His other talk was equally powerful and Amanda did a good job sharing it in her talk. It is called "O Remember, Remember". The premise as I remember it is to write things down that remind us of the hand of the Lord in our lives and the lives of our children.
