Amanda and I read the introductory pages. My first thoughts as we read the title page were, "what would it be like if I were reading this for the first time in my life?" What if this were my first exposure to this book. Would the words seem strange? Would I have an open heart? In a sense I felt excited and saw truth in the words from a new perspective and I was reminded that I know this book is true! Joseph Smith translated these words that had been prepared by Mormon, Moroni, and other ancient prophets for our use today.
The title page also reminded me that the Book was first written for the Lamanites then the Jews and Gentiles. Regardless it was written for our day. I know that to be true.
Amanda and I discussed another thought as we read through Joseph Smith's testimony and explanation of how the book came about. We were thinking about certain scenes in the temple and tried to picture Moroni the angel returning and reporting to the Son and the Son to the Father.
How blessed are we to have this book and these words?
