Two points I love so far in this talk. The point about how much God loves His children. It reminded me that Elder Holland said it very eloquently when he said the first great truth is that Father loves us with his whole heart, might, mind, and strength.
Second point, learn about His plan for us through our patriarchal blessings.
Abraham 3:27 And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first.
Jesus Christ was prepared for and called to fill His role before this earth was even created.
Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
We were chosen to be with Him before the foundation of the world. What does that mean?
2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.
As I read this verse and thought about the verse from Ephesians, I thought about my patriarchal blessing and how maybe those blessings and commitments were established even before this world was created. Maybe it was always the plan for my spirit to express itself this way in a physical body, and that my own spirit works so hard against the natural wants of my body to be what it was in the premortal existence. And hopefully enough of my spirit's desires win out to allow me to fulfill those premortal commitments.
