Conducting: Pres. Uchtdorf
Music: Priesthood Choir from BYU-I

(BYUchoir) Saints Behold our Great Jehovah

Prayer: Legrand R Curtis

(BYUc)Secret Prayer
Elder Oaks: There is no up or down in callings. only forward and back which is determiened by how we act on the callings extended to us. Keys and authority of the priesthood will be the topic.  Priesthood power blesses all of us. Keys direct men and women. Priesthood authority applies to women as well as men. consumate power on this earth, same power that created the earth.  Same priesthood that was in the beginning is also in the end.  Same that will resurrect us. Keys are used to govern the use of priesthood, all priesthood work is all directed by someone holding keys. controling the exercise of priesthood authority, keys enlarge and limit. All keys are held by the Lord Jesus Christ. He determines who will held thme and how they will be used.  Joseph received only the keys of this dispensation.  There are keys of creation and resurrection not given to man on earth. 1st pres and q12 can make decisions of policy and procedure.  Theyare not allowed to change the pattern that men are only allowed to hold priesthood.

3 points what are they?

Joseph Fielding Smith, the sisters have not received priesthood, they have still been given authority.  These can be binding.  The work done in the house of the Lord is done through binding authority.  Just as valid as that done by priesthood authority. women have been given authority, mentioned many times in his talk.  [me] find this talk. Work done in wards is still done by authority given from God, under direction of Bishops, who hold keys. Women are given Priesthood authority to do a priesthood work. That is what they receive when set-apart. When authority is received we should stop worrying about rights and worry more about responsibility.

The Lord has ordained that only men will hold priesthood offices. but we are not the priesthood. J Rueben Clark said men need women for the role of creation that men cannot do. The power of creation is complimentary to priesthood.   In the eyes of God men and women are equal in value.  Elder Ballard at Education week last year. Neither gender is valued more, in temple both receive endowment. Power and blessing of priesthood is available to all.

Keys are handled in fullness by prophet.  The priesthood belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Elder Hallstrom: This meeting is to help us understand what manner we ought to be as men holding the Priesthood.  Technology to allow us to hear the prophets is of no value unless we change.  When we conclude that this is just who we are then we cut ourselves off from any opportunity to become better.  We meet in the name of Jesus Christ with the understanding that he gives power to change.  when we meet the spirit can be poured out upon us.

Story of man in India that had polio and was disabled.  Missionaries taught him that he had potential.  Served a mission even with a cane in each hand. Brother nulu, explained that the gospel changed him permanently.  What changes are required of us to become who we should be.

1. we need to be preisthood men.  showing spiritual maturity because we have made covenants. Our every action should show our gratitude.  If we don't frequently think on the priesthood we already need to change.
2. We need to serve. The essence of the priesthood is to magnify our calling.  Family, callings in church, home teaching, are so important.
3. We need to be worthy. we need to wake up and understand the fact that commonly accepted practices in the world choke the power of the priesthood.  Change. Repent. be perfect like He is.

Brother Ridd: Chosen generation, the choice generation because never have so many choices been placed before you. God has sent you at this time because it was known that you could manage the challenge of knowing what to choose.  With a click of a button the internet will allow you to access whatever you desire.  What does your heart desire, because you will be led to that thing.  Everything we say, think, and do leave their mark on us, which Father and Jesus can read just like a book.  There is cyber tracking of our every action on the internet where legions await to fill the desires of our heart as it has tracked.   We must use agency to learn to pursue and pursue righteous desires.  With each click, you must ask, where will this lead?  Our choices will allow the internet  (educate desires) to refine us or bind us down.
1. knowing who you really are makes making decisions easier. wayward boy received vision of who he really was through patriarchal blessing.  decided to serve mission.
2. plug into the source of power.  we have the wisdom of all the prophets in our cell phone.  need a full charge of spiritual power that are received through prayer and scripture study, these allow us to have the holy ghost and his inspiration.  Shouldn't we listen to the lord as we attend text messages.
3. Owning a smart phone does not make you smart, but using it wisely can.  dont do dumb things with your smart phone, don't let it distract you.   When you drive, drive. when you are with your friends give them the gift of your attenion [me] we have the gift of Fathers attention
4. Use technology to hasten the work. - influence the world.  Oh that I had the voice of an angel and could proclaim the gospel to all the world.

(BYUc & C) Rejoice the Lord is King

Pres. Uchtdorf: Rip van Winkel, unambitious man avoided work and his wife. Slept for 20 years? He slept through the american revolution.  Don't sleep through the revolution.  Are you sleeping through the restoration.  Is the restoration complete? It is an ongoing process it includes all that god has revealed, reveals now and yet reveal as preparation for the second coming of the Lord.   Will we report that we rolled up our sleeve and worked or that we were mostly an observer:
1. Selfishness, those who are selfish seek their own interest for oneself over anything else. Think on selfless service. Selfie is word of the year per Oxford English Dict.  What is the remedy, the answer is in the scriptures. Follow Christ.  Those who serve others will not sleep through the restoration
2. Addiction, cause us to sleep walk through restoration.  Strings that weave into thick fabrics of bondage.  We are endowed with unspeakable potential, not to be shackled to earth.  Addictions are easier to prevent than to cure. Sat in pilot seat of Airforce 1, hand on throttle, Pres Monson said don't even think about it".  When we are tempted listen to the loved ones.  Once there, know first that there is hope, get help from family, leaders, and counselors.  With the Saviors help you can break free from addiction. The atonement was wrought to help you be free and clean.  Keep far away from habits that lead to addiction.  If we do then we can work in the restoration.
3. Competing priorities, cart pulled by work animals in different directions which keep us from moving forward at all.  What are our highest priorities and how do we give them the attention we need. Love God first. Love thy neighbor as thyself.  don't be lulled into indifference.
Promise unto preisthood holders D&C 84:33 Oath and covenants of priesthood.  Amazing blessing of renewal

Pres. Eyring: Grew up in Princeton New Jersey, Dodgers, Yankees, Giants, Phillies.  Joe Dimagio was one of his heroes.  tried to copy his swing.  When we choose heroes we will copy things that they do.  Pres. only saw Joe Dimagio one time, but each week saw priesthood holders to be his heroes.  Aaronic Priesthood leader.  Marine that also attended their branch, he was a star player at Princeton's football, basketball, and baseball teams.  taught him many things when he would visit their home for church or otherwise.  We become heroes whether we know it or not.  What kind of model are we?  Matthew Ye are the light of the world.
1. Prayer, often and with real intent. thank in the evening. for people. for how people blessed you, it will take time and thought.  As you ask for forgiveness it will help you to forgive others.  It will surprise you.  As this is done you will know that you are a child of God.  We will know of his expectations for us. Bless us to put the desires of others above our own.
2. Service, some already serve so much and so well. The joy we feel in the temple are only a token of what we will feel on the other side of the veil.  Serve by bringing others to the gospel.
3. Honest, we will know of His sadness when we are not honest.
Heroes often don't recognize their great qualities in themselves, so be modest in how you share things.
No service is greater than to help others to make changes to find Eternal life.

Pres. Monson: We need to have courage to do the right thing, say no or yes when it is appropriate.  WE will be called upon to defend what we believe.  Will we have the courage to do so? Inner courage, to do what is right when no one is watching, or standing alone to defend beliefs. 18 year old seamen that was not afraid to pray, each night by the side of his bunk.  A couple noticed a young man who inspired others at church, but then later that day was in scruffy clothes and smoking.  Are we the same in the dark as the light?  Abinadi was a great example to defend truth even at the expense of his life.  Moroni persevered in righteousness to the end.  Joseph Smith defended truth, Parley Pratt tells story of how Joseph Smith rebuked the guards.  Not all acts bring remarkable results but they bring peace of conscience. Have courage of prophets.

May we leave here tonight with I will not remove mine integrity from me. Job

2014-04-05 Saturday Morning Conference

Conducting Pres. Uctdorf

(MoTab) Lead Kindly Light

Pres. Monson: 15 million, dedicated Gilbert temple 142nd operating temple, AZ very dry because of prayers rain came at time of presentation, youth continued through cold and rain, faith-filled and inspiring experience sprit was strong. No temples will be announced for a short time while we focus on finishing the temples already announced.

Elder Holland: story of person who got food thrown at them for being a missionary, person sweared at them and tried to hit them.  we will all be persecuted at some point. Will it be worth it? Yes, otherwise our house will be left unto us desolate.  [me] I must learn to study by using both the commentary but give greater focus to the scriptures referenced.  Teaching will then follow having a steady flow of scriptures as part of that teaching. // I need the words of conference everyday in my life.

Elder Rasband: Tornado in Oklahoma City (May of 2013). Pres. Monson told him to say... 1. I love them. 2. I'm praying for them.  3. Thank those that are helping.  313 70s in 8 quorums serving the quorum of 12 and 1st presidency.  We can all serve, and we can all support the leadership.  Raise hand means we will share the burden to serve and be disciples.  The Lord is dependent on us to serve. Will we be willing to write the note, make the call or spend the day serving to someone else.  Tori a 5th grader, tells of storm that comes over her school, ripped off the roof and stop sign that was right in front of her face after the storm had passed. D&C 84:88.  The Lord Jesus Christ speaks to and through his prophet Thomas S. Monson in our day.

Elder Carlos H. Amado: Jesus raises from the dead.  Story of Lazarus being raised from the dead.  Atonement of Christ. Charged originally with crime of blasphemy was changed to sedition so that he would qualify for crucifixion. Jesus asked for Father to forgive the executioners, did he do this because they were possibly more clean of heart and truly just following orders?  He did not ask for forgiveness of all others, did he?  What about the scribes and Pharisees. [me] teach of Father and his gifts, the son and his power, and atoning sacrifice, the Holy Ghost. Joseph Smith/Current Prophet, Priesthood/Restoration.

(C&C) Choose the Right

Sister Linda Reeves: Problems of pornography destroying lives of members.  The family is based on marriage and it is vital. Pres. Kimball in marriage, the spouse becomes pre-eminent in the persons life, nothing else takes precedences. Story of daughter who say pornography on a neighbors tv. They knelt and prayed for help to feel better. When people talk about their addictions or pains of pornography we need to not react with anger shock or ... otherwise they may not talk again about it. Mobile devices are worse than computers for use of pornography.  Atonement can clean and heal us.  Quote from Elder Scott about help for spouses.  Filters help, but need help of testimony as internal filter. How do we lead our children to a testimony that will strengthen them against temptations that will come. The two most important things are 1. daily prayer and scripture study 2. And weekly family home evening.  This will add protection, and guide us.  Also we can search out our ancestors for as well.  She gives a list of things that can be done when we feel tempted.  Turn off devices, pray, sing, primary songs, etc.  [me] have felt a couple of times that I need to be in the practice memorizing passages from talks.

Elder Andersen: Visiting family in Florida, we will not glide smoothly to the second coming.  Tornado is an example of how life can pick us up and leave us where we don't expect to be.  Challenges will come to you as you trust in the Lord you will grow in strength.  Example of roots growing deeper, more quickly and cell walls grow thicker when exposed to the storm.  Build our foundation on Christ.  This month a letter about civil law engagement.  When laws allow things that are not right it doesn't change the Lord's laws.  Quote from Pres. Monson about the chasm that exists between laws of man and laws of God. Families are the treasure of heaven.  Man may try to redefine marriage but God has not.  Laurel posts as part of her identity that she "believes in marriage between a woman and a man." She received lots of cruel comments in return. repudiate  If as you listen to the general authorities you have questions you should discuss them with your parents and leaders.  If you listen to these things as if from the mouth of God, he will dispel the powers of satan.  Power of the Book of Mormon, story of Pres Eyring - he moved and found it uncomfortable, at that time he read the Book of Mormon with more commitment and found it a great blessing.  Another way to stand firm, stand in holy places and be not moved, temples, learn about ancestors. [me] fascinated by the way talks work together and by how they address the issues of the day.  [me] I am really enjoying the format of taking notes in my blog.

(MoTab) A New commandment I give unto you

Pres. Eyring: You may have been invited to watch by missionaries or members to help you have a spiritual experience. Heinrich Eyring orphans early age, went to St. Louis, met a friend and became acquainted.  Asked about angels, prophets, restored church.  Dream came that William Brown should baptize him.   baptized in a rain puddle.  He left a history and an 'inheritance of hope' Can we leave that inheritance and tradition.  We need to always renew our promise to remember the savior by taking the Sacrament.  What will I do to remember every day that covenant.  Walked from Oklahoma to SLC ~1100miles. Then moved to southern Utah. Then went back to native Germany. Then northern Mexico, then Mexico City.  Each covenant brings duties and blessings.  Abraham 3:22-24  Keeping our second estate depends on our making and keeping sacred covenants to return to Father. Temptations trials and death are our universal inheritance. Eternal Life can come only through covenants offered by the true and living church of Jesus Christ, with the proper priesthood authority. The Holy Ghost will help us to keep the covenants. Many examples in the scriptures about people who changed from wickedness to righteousness. Study from scripture looking for examples.  Children are more sensitive to the spirit then as they grow older, make sure you help them to have those experiences as young as possible.  children are more sensitive to the spirit than we realize.  Create an 'inheritance of hope'.  If we let our all-knowing Father be the leader in our home, things 'will work out'. He cares about us and about us as a family. [me] consider keeping FSoY and PMG as Sabbath activity and separate lessons for family night.  Take more opportunities to sing primary songs with the kids.

(MoTab) Come O thou King of Kings

Elder Christopher Waddell

[me] what will I experience if I take my notes and pray and ponder over them?  Will my experience studying the conference talks after the fact be different?

[me] How should I study Conference for the next 6 months.  What can I do to really have it be a daily part of my life?  How do I get out of it what the Lord would have me get out of it?  My vision may need to be expanded as to what I can accomplish by close adherence to the thoughts and words?

[me] I never know exactly what my questions are coming into conference.  Even when I start writing them down I don't like them and

Mountains to Climb - President Eyring

It's been a long time since I commented on a conference talk.  I was a little hesitant to do so thinking I would have nothing to write.  I'm sure I'll find something.

Pres. Eyring wanted to have greater experiences and inspired from Pres Kimball's address, he prayed for greater mountains to climb.  I love this thought that he had, "I felt with such confidence that night that a great blessing could come from adversity to more than compensate for any cost"  What a willingness to sacrifice.  I want that kind of faith.

Later he says we need a foundation of faith before these trials and testing come.  "That solid basis for a foundation of faith is personal integrity."

I liked this comment as well, "It is serving God and others persistently with full heart and soul that turns testimony of truth into unbreakable spiritual strength"

We all need this, "With faith in the Savior, you can repent and plead for forgiveness. There is someone you can forgive. There is someone you can thank.  There is someone you can serve and lift. You can do it wherever you are and however alone and deserted you may feel."  I have much to repent of. I feel so blessed to receive further insight into the areas of my life that I can change and improve.  Some of these areas will take years to completely change.  But there is so much strength in the rest of the thought, thanking others, serving and lifting others these come with added blessings, not the least of which is a greater awareness of God's love for us.

Hopefully we don't feel alone and having faith in Jesus Christ leads us to knowing of his Love.

Pres. Eyring 2011-04-02 "Learning in the Priesthood"

Pres. Eyring started with a paragraph that summed up well what he would teach through out his talk:

"I found three wonderful things in place to speed my growth in the priesthood. The first was a president who knew how to sit in council with the members of his quorum. The second was great faith in Jesus Christ that led to the great love we have heard of—love for each other. And the third was a shared conviction that our overarching priesthood purpose was to labor for the salvation of men."

There is such a depth about this lesson I feel like I need to listen to it a few more times hopefully I can tomorrow.

Pres. Eyring 2011-04-02 "Opportunities to do Good"

I love listening to Pres. Eyring because of his way of speaking where it sounds like it is all he can do to control his emotions.  Here are a few thoughts that come from his Saturday Morning address.  It is related to the celebrating of the 75th anniversary of the Welfare program of the church:

1. He hopes to renew and strengthen our commitment to act.

4 Principles to Guide Us:
1. People are happier and feel more self respect when they can provide for themselves, learn to be self-reliant and then learn to help and serve others to the point that they too can be self-reliant.
2. the power and blessing of Unity should guide us in welfare work.
3. Draw your family into the work of serving others.
4. Seek out the poor, the Holy Ghost will help.

3 Suggestions for planning our Service project:
1. Prepare yourself spiritually
2. Choose those recipients of the service who will touch the hearts of those giving the service.
3. draw on the power of the bonds of families, quorums, communities, auxiliary organizations.
