Jesus Christ --> Crucifixion - Day 45

D&C 138:35 And so it was made known among the dead, both small and great, the unrighteous as well as the faithful, that redemption had been wrought through the sacrifice of the Son of God upon the cross.

The ability to be saved was made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His crucifixion and atonement. Was crucifixion necessary, or could he have died in some other manner. It occurs to me that maybe crucifixion wasn't the only way he could have died and still wrought the atonement but it was important that it be done in a public manner so all could witness it. I believe the witnessing of His crucifixion was so important that there were truly two nations involved, both his own Jewish people, and the occupying and oppressive Roman nation. He received the marks in His hands in the house of His friends. AND He was led as a Lamb to the slaughter. The first one seems to witness of Jesus sacrifice under the hands of the Jews, it was in large part their choice. The second seems to be more a function of being governed by the Romans.
