Exodus 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
Even the covenants made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, were made with Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament, so in that sense those that have part of those covenants become sons to the God of the covenant.
John 17:6-12 (11) This is the intercessory prayer and teaches many of the same principles we have received from other verses. (v. 11) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
John 17:20-24 21. That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou has sent me.
These words of prayer offered by Jesus to His Father, called the intercessory prayer, are similar to those we hear elsewhere about the unity and oneness between Father and Son. And I can't help but wonder as I read them if we are not also supposed to be praying to be one with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and to know the Son as our Father.
