Ezekiel 1:26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Interesting that he does not say he saw God, but that there was the appearance of a man and a throne. Seems a little more obscure, but the timing of the writings does mean it would be an antemortal appearance of God (Jesus Christ)
Amos 9:1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
The thought that occurs to me here is that this is another prophet who has seen the Lord before His birth on earth. Instead of just having multiple visions by the same person we have multiple people, over time having the same visions (and even different visions but still of God). It builds and strengthens the case that Jesus Christ does show himself to man on earth as needed, and that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
John 12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
Who was Esaias? I have to assume that he is a prophet of God from before the time of Jesus birth.
