D&C 29:5 Lift up your hearts and be glad, for I am in your midst, and am your advocate with the Father; and it is his good will to give you the kingdom.
The frequency with which a term is used may be linked to the prophet/apostle using the term and their own personal experience with God in revelation. Joseph Smith may have been connected with God in a way that God felt to use this term a little more often with him than others, so we may see it a little more in the Doctrine and Covenants than we do in other scriptures.
D&C 32:3 And Ziba Peterson also shall go with them; and I myself will go with them and be in their midst; and I am their advocate with the Father, and nothing shall prevail against them.
This verse brought about some very different thoughts about the use of the word advocate. Typically, I think of the need for an advocate at the time of judgement. But this verse causes me to see the more immediate need, maybe even the constant need for an advocate with the Father. If we are to repent daily, as we are invited to do by our prophet, are we not in need of an advocate with the Father each time we do repent? When we repent the Jesus Christ can be in our midst to be that Advocate.
D&C 45:3 Listen to him who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him--
Pleading our cause, I need that, I'm grateful for that.
