2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Jesus is the image of God, but there is a God the Father separate from the Son.
Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
We pray to God our Heavenly Father, and we do so in the name of Jesus Christ who is our Advocate with/before the Father.
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
It is an interesting phrase and does seem to represent the separation between God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, but I'm not sure I understand much of its meaning.
