Question of the day: What does Mosiah 3:7 help you understand about the Savior’s mission? What are your feelings as you think about what the Savior has done for you?
We are familiar with the words of King Benjamin in this section that talk about how there is no other name which can save us. I read these words very differently this morning considering some lessons learned from our modern day apostles. In the most recent face to face event President Eyring and Elder Holland explained that we cannot speak of the atonement as its own subject. It is not a freestanding topic. There is no atonement with out Jesus Christ. The subject is Jesus' atonement, His atoning for our sins. This is nothing more or less than presenting it as what Jesus did for us. I believe it is a subtle ploy of satan to get us to try and address the atonement without Jesus.
Pres. Nelson must have seen this as an important topic to reiterate, he addressed it again in general conference on Saturday morning.
D&C 6: One of a few points that stood out to me in the portion of the Doctrine and Covenants I read was about Salvation being the greatest of all the gifts of God. I have thought a lot about the gifts of God, including agency, a physical body, families, the Holy Ghost, ordinances and covenants, the church, other gifts of the spirit. I hope to better keep in mind the gift of Salvation which comes in and through the gift of Jesus' atonement.
Both D&C 6 as well as Mosiah 3 list many names of Jesus Christ.
