When the wicked kill prophets or saints, it makes the Lord very upset. He cares deeply for those that keep His commandments, especially in the face of persecution.
There seems to be a tally of sorts that happens when a beloved of the Lord is slain, their blood cries from the dust, from the ground. Maybe it is only assuaged when those wicked people's lives are ended.
In these passages (see cross references) we learn of the different ways in which the Lord will use calamities to take their lives. I couldn't help but think that by not having a burial but being taken in a fearful way was quite the punishment. I wonder how their far at death compared to the far of those prophets and saints that were murdered. My guess is that the righteous have a confidence in the Lord that gives then great peace.
