I've met many who love wine, it is a passion, especially wine tastings. Then there those who love the strong drinks. My first exposure to those that "mingle strong drinks" came from my Grandpa. I hear in this verse a warning to not take pride in these things. They will cause addiction and enslave the person. What errors in judgement have been made throughout time just by people being intoxicated.
