2 Nephi 5:24 Cursed Land

Two aspects of the curse experienced by the Lamanites seem to be the mark of darkness on their skin and a curse upon the land. The way we read 2 Nephi 5, I believe Nephi is explaining that the promise of keeping the commandments allowed them to prosper, whereas it was a curse to the Lamanites such that they did not prosper and thus had to find other means to provide for themselves and their families. The path of least resistance meant that they would hunt for beasts and eat meat, this allowed for a life of idleness thus perpetuating the curse.
