'These things' seems to refer to the scriptures thathe was writing. He probably saw in vision the other writings that would come forth. The promises made to his fathers, they meant everything to him, especially because Father had covenanted to Abraham a "promised land".
The relevant covenant I'm thinking about here based these verses is that the gospel would be made available to their posterity. And not just theirs, but those that would be blessed as posterity by being adopted into the posterity of Abraham. The gospel is brought forth in part by the word of God as made available through the scriptures. What a relief to Nephi and others, what a blessing to us.
